Your bibliography is processed in your browser. Lookup fields are sent directly to third-party databases; the CiteProof website does not receive the bibliography or verification results.
Files and results
The current web application reads selected files and pasted text in the page and holds the bibliography and results in memory. It does not send them to a CiteProof upload endpoint or save them in browser local storage, cookies, or a CiteProof database.
Requests to scholarly databases
Selecting or dropping a file starts verification automatically. Pasted references are queried when you start a check. Depending on the lookup, titles, author surnames, years, DOIs and arXiv identifiers may be sent to Crossref, DBLP, Semantic Scholar and OpenAlex. These services receive your request and ordinary connection information such as your IP address, and process it under their own policies. The browser does not query arXiv directly; the separate CLI does.
Only submit references whose lookup fields you are comfortable sharing with those services. Clicking an original-page, database, GitHub or search link opens a third-party site; search links may include the reference title or identifier. Linked pages are not automatically checked by CiteProof.
Browser preferences and hosting logs
The application uses local storage to remember your language preference. You can remove it by clearing this site's stored data in your browser. The current application includes no advertising trackers or separate analytics scripts.
Serving the website still involves technical access data. The hosting server records request information such as IP address, time, requested path, response status, referring page and browser information. Cloudflare also processes connection and traffic data to deliver and protect the site. These website requests do not contain the bibliography submitted through the checker. Optional tips
The support dialog uses the same Buy Me a Coffee and WeChat Pay details as PocketPlay. QR images are served by this website. If you follow a payment link or scan a code, the payment provider handles the transaction under its own policies. CiteProof does not collect payment details or verify payments. Tips are voluntary and do not unlock features.
Questions and scope
This notice describes the hosted CiteProof website as currently implemented. Third-party databases, external links, browser features and extensions have their own data-handling behavior. For questions about this notice, visit the project repository; avoid posting private bibliographies in public issues.
